Erding Klettham St. Vinzenz 2019

A lot of thought went into finding a satisfactory solution for the organ in the parish of St. Vincent. A suitable instrument in the second-hand organ market then brought the solution, which is unique in this form in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising.

The old organ above the concrete plinth of the entrance doors had more and more failures. It was controlled from a console in the sanctuary.
The organ itself was very inaccessible. Access was via a narrow door five metres above the ground, which could be reached by a ladder. Inside the organ, one could hardly move. The organ's electrical system was outdated, prone to failure and did not comply with VDE guidelines.
Repair work was also impossible due to the cramped conditions.
Considerations ranged from building a new organ on the concrete gallery or at another location in the church to reworking the old organ. However, since a reworking of the organ in its old form would not have led to any lasting improvement, and a new organ building was difficult for financial reasons, another solution had to be found.

By finding a suitable instrument on the second-hand organ market, the following solution was found:
On the one hand, the existing organ on the concrete gallery was greatly reduced in its number of stops, the organ interior with the wind chests on the concrete gallery was reorganised, and the electrical control was completely renewed.
On the other hand, a second-hand organ from Switzerland was installed in the sanctuary. The organ fits perfectly into the church interior. The organ console was rebuilt so that the gallery organ could also be played from the chancel.
The old organ now supports the "new" second-hand organ with its 12 manual and 5 pedal stops and both organs together fill the space of the large church wonderfully.
