Unterliezheim St. Leonhard 2012

The renowned organ builder F.B. Maerz built this magnificent instrument in 1908 in the very beautiful and still existing organ case from around 1740.

Around the turn of the century, Maerz developed a new windchest system, the so-called pocket chest. This system has a lot of movable leather parts, which we completely renewed after more than 100 years of use. The parts were manufactured and installed in our own workshop. Our focus was on the countless details that should guarantee years of trouble-free operation in the future. In order to realise this claim for the entire organ, among other things, the console was completely disassembled in our workshop and all relays were carefully restored. The large bellows in the organ's substructure was re-covered in many places with thick sheepskin, as it had become leaky over time.
In 1956 the organ underwent a tonal redesign - in keeping with the taste of the time. The affected stops were reconstructed and renewed in historical scale and design. The organ in Unterliezheim sounds today as it did when it was inaugurated in 1908!
