Buggenhofen Mariä Himmelfahrt 2020

Restoration of the Siemann organ with 9 stops, I/Ped, built in 1906

In autumn, we were busy restoring the Siemann organ in the pilgrimage church Mariä Himmelfahrt (Assumption of the Virgin Mary) in Buggenhofen (Donau-Ries district), built in 1906. After more than a hundred years of history, the organ was in urgent need of a competent overhaul.

The tonal changes from the 1970s were restored. With the reconstruction of the two stops Gamba 8' and Mixtur 2 2/3', the original sound structure of the organ was restored. By chance, the low pipes of the Gamba 8' were found on a pedestal in the bell tower. The cranked zinc pipes were in a completely desolate condition and in principle had to be completely re-soldered. The console was also dismantled into all its individual parts and the gut valves were renewed according to historical models.

The organ now sounds like it did in the old days again and we say many thanks to the parish of Buggenhofen with its dedicated church caretaker for the beautiful job!
